Durham’s new Emergency Medical Services Station #2 is located on Old Fayetteville Road. This new facility services a large portion of Southern Durham and is the busiest of the EMS stations.
The building complex houses both vehicle and personnel, as well as a community meeting room which also provides shelter during weather emergencies for citizens with medical needs. The architectural image grew from expressing the site circulation in a three-dimensional form. The semi-circular, iconic elements display structure and rhythm. The interior features are simple and elegant, easy to maintain, and have become a favorite of the EMS workers who spend their free time in the living quarters and sleeping areas.
